Maker’s Mark was founded by Bill Samuels Sr., who inherited his father’s distillery in 1953. He set out to create a unique bourbon whiskey that would stand out from the mass-produced brands on the market. After experimenting with different recipes, he finally settled on a recipe that used red winter wheat instead of rye. This gave the whisky a softer, smoother flavor that was unlike anything else on the market.
Today, Maker’s Mark is one of the most popular bourbons in the world.
